Hurricane Florence Update

Monday, September 24th, 2018

Hurricane Florence was a storm of unprecedented proportions for rainwater, storm surges, and cresting waterways.  Unfortunately National Spinning’s Whiteville, NC plant was severely affected by this storm, along with many other communities in North and South Carolina.

Whiteville received 26 inches of rainfall and sustained high tropical storm winds during this hurricane.  Severe flooding and widespread power outages occurred in the area, with residual after-effects.

Many of our associates, and our spinning plant, were without power for four to six days. 11 of our associates had to be relocated by FEMA and another 15 to 20 sustained extensive property damage.  Losses ranged from property to automobiles and pets.

As of September 23, 2018, 15% of our Whiteville workforce still cannot return to work as a result of roadways or personal situations. A Go Fund Me campaign has been initiated to help these associates.  The page is located here if you wish to contribute.

Thank you in advance if you are able to help out. We wish all those affected by the storm a return to their regular lives and safety from future storm events.
